Antony Gormley at White Cube Mason’s Yard

Free

White Cube Mason’s Yard presents ‘WITNESS: Early Lead Works’, a solo exhibition by Antony Gormley curated by Susan May, Global Artistic Director at White Cube.

The show features 14 of the artist’s early works dating from the mid-1970s to early-1990s. Developed in the aftermath of the protracted geopolitical tensions of the Cold War, the sculptures selected in the exhibition were created in lead, a material that laid the groundwork for many of Gormley’s subsequent bodies of work.

‘WITNESS: Early Lead Works’ traces the evolution of Gormley’s sculptural practice, with the utilisation of found objects and the incorporation of his own body, allowing for an interplay between emptiness and fullness, as well as a tension between the physical and the metaphysical. Together, the works on display serve as propositions for embodiment, vulnerability, space and presence.

Venue: White Cube Mason’s Yard, 25-26 Masons Yard, London SW1Y 6BU
