Taking the humble sandwich to a bold, flavourful and marvellously Mexican new level, Wahaca this month teams up with iconic bakery The Dusty Knuckle to introduce the Birria Torta.
Inspired by the popular sandwich-style snack enjoyed throughout Mexico, it’s packed with slow-cooked birria beef, roasted red onion, pickled vegetables, creamy avocado, grilled cheese, coriander leaf and a punchy jalapeño aioli. But the torta’s tastiness doesn’t stop there; it’s served with a side of rich, aromatic birria broth for dipping – the ultimate umami upgrade.
To celebrate the launch, Thomasina Miers will be joining The Dusty Knuckle team to give away 100 Birria Tortas for free outside Wahaca Southbank from 12pm until 2pm on Tuesday 16th September. Once they’re gone, they’re gone – but anyone who can’t make it needn’t miss out, as the torta officially joins the menu at all Wahaca restaurants from the following day.
