Szalony Zielony Bez | Green Wild Elderflower – a Polish musical about migration
A woman from Warsaw sets out on an adventurous journey in search of freedom and her dreams. Along the way, she navigates the colourful contrasts of the capitalist West and the grey, yet humorous, communist Poland.
Through the iconic songs of Agnieszka Osiecka, one of Poland’s most celebrated songwriters, the musical explores migration, identity and belonging. It reflects the experiences of many Poles who have built lives in the UK and are now returning to Poland in growing numbers. Poetry, sharp anecdotes and Polish hit songs capture the joys, struggles and bittersweet realities of life abroad, bringing the migrant experience vividly to life.
Following sold-out shows in London and at the International Theatre Festival in Boston, Szalony Zielony Bez / Green Wild Elderflower returns as part of Riverside Studios’ 50th anniversary programme.
More than a performance, Green Wild Elderflower is a gateway into Polish culture, music and history. Performed in Polish with English subtitles.
Venue: Riverside Studios, 101 Queen Caroline Street, Hammersmith, London W6 9BN
