The Serpentine Pavilion 2024 is Archipelagic Void, designed by Seoul-based Korean architect Minsuk Cho and his firm Mass Studies. Comprised of five distinct areas in a star shape, each structure of the Pavilion has a different shape, size and identity.
There is a sound installation in the main Gallery inspired by the Pavilion’s surroundings, and the rather wonderful Library of Unread Books by artist Heman Chong and archivist Renée Staal located in the north of the Pavilion. Visitors are welcome to bring an unread book to add to the growing collection. which is a kind of living library. The Tea House references the original purpose of the South Gallery whilst the Auditorium has benches built in, providing a space for talks and performances. Finally, visitors can climb over the netting of the Play Tower.
The Serpentine Galleries are situated either side of the Serpentine Bridge in Kensington Gardens and next to the annually-changing Pavilion. Exhibitions are free; you can either drop in or book a timed ticket in advance to help you plan your day.
