This spring, explore Water Pantanal Fire, a striking free exhibition which showcases powerful images by leading documentary photographers Lalo de Almeida and Luciano Candisani.
The exhibition reveals the fragile beauty of the Pantanal – the world’s largest wetland – and the threats posed by deforestation, intensive farming and climate change, which all contribute to the destructive droughts and wildfires that ravaged the wetland in recent years.
Bringing together more than 60 powerful images, Water Pantanal Fire shows both the luscious beauty and larger-than-life encounters with the region’s aquatic wildlife, alongside the scorching flames and devastation left in the wake of wildfires.
Shown in the UK for the first time as part of an international tour, Water Pantanal Fire forms part of the UK/Brazil Season of Culture 2025-26, organised by the British Council and Instituto Guimarães Rosa.
