Barbican

Life in this area is dominated by Brutalist landmark The Barbican Estate, which is both a residential estate (home to around 4000 residents) and cultural centre, which functions as a micro city in itself. It’s worth a wander for the architecture alone, but also for concerts, films, theatre and exhibitions. It’s easy to get lost its series of walkways both on both ground level and above.

There is also plenty of greenery to break up the concrete too. The lakeside space is a great lunch spot, and it you can visit the Conservatory on sundays to see exotic fish and over 2000 species of plants and trees.
