Following a sell-out debut at the 2023 Durham Fringe Festival for EVERJOY (Golden Knocker Award), Ben Donaghy is branching out further afield with his first show at the 2024 Camden Fringe. This year his writing is more fictional, while being inspired by his bedroom, drawing influence from the countless objects he has collected over the past 21 years.
Set on a bed in the centre of the stage, an unnamed character pursues his dreams of travelling the world, finding love, and becoming a stand-up comedian while being confined to the four walls of his bedroom. The show sees him unpacking items from a box and revelling in the reminiscence each trinket brings until slowly the room becomes more and more cluttered, echoing a very famous piece of modern art. As this pattern continues, the story starts to unravel to reveal a web of lies spun across several years, all pointing to a mental health crisis left unnoticed.
