So the No Trousers Tube Ride is back, kind of. Previously organised by the Stiff Upper Lip Society, the No Trousers Tube Ride was the London edition of a global event, started twenty years ago in New York. The society decided not to continue with the event but a prior member of the group has decided that we still need this in our life and is unofficially organising it. It's pretty much what it says on the tin: Londoners meet up, go in groups to certain tube stations, then remove their trousers and ride the tube (oh, and no thongs or banana hammocks please; the aim is to amuse fellow Londoners, not put them off their dinner). The more casual you can act, the better. The idea is to behave as if it is a perfectly normal tube journey: scroll through your phone, read a book, do the crossword in the paper - just without your trousers. The sole purpose is to have fun and raise a smile. It's free to get involved (apart from the tube fare, that's on you); just pitch up where the pagoda used to be in China Town, Soho, at 2:45pm where you will be organised into groups before being let loose.
