Even if you’re not particularly into boats, all ages will be caught up in the triumphant arrival of the Clippers in Royal Albert Dock. From 2pm – 4pm, visitors will be treated to a spectacular ‘Parade of Sail’ by the Clipper Race fleet, followed by an official award ceremony for the winners where attendees will hear about each crew’s voyage. Cheer the winning crew and soak up the dockside party atmosphere at this exciting summertime event.
There is also a stage featuring live music from the UK’s award-winning Miss DJ Candy, North London based indie pop artist Natalie Shay and international saxophonist Tyler Rix. From 4.30pm the celebrations continue with an after party, with live music from Rita Campbell and Alle Pearse who make up PARC, one of London’s funkiest showbands. Groove Empire, award-winning Abba tribute act ARRIVAL and the amazing Brit and Ivor Novello award-winning Betty Boo will take you through to 9pm.
The Round the World Clipper Race is one of the biggest endurance tests for amateur sailors. With no previous experiences necessary for crews, it’s a hugely challenging 40,000 nautical mile race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht.
