Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® is back at the Leicester Square Theatre with an all-new production of their hit show Sh!t-faced Shakespeare®: Much Ado About Nothing.
It’s just like your school Shakespeare outings; except of course that the play is freely abridged, interpreted and ad-libbed, and every evening a different member of the cast – along with a sizeable proportion of the audience – is totally hammered. This isn’t highbrow, sophisticated or sensible, but it is boozy, bawdy and boisterous, the love child of Shakespeare, panto, and a student house party at 2am.
The ad-libs are fabulous, be it from the intoxicated actor or his fellow thesps trying to keep the play going in a vaguely recognisable direction. I’ll leave you with their own cautionary aside: ‘Warning: Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® is an adult show for big sensible grownups and therefore contains rude stuff!’
