Love a cheese toastie? Get yourself over to The Wigmore this autumn.
True cheese toastie aficionados will know The Wigmore, a modern British pub located at The Langham and overseen by hospitality legend Michel Roux Jr, for its famous foot-long XXL Stovetop 3 Cheese & Mustard Toastie. For the next few months they are hosting a Toastie Takeover, with top chefs cooking up their take on the iconic snack.
First in the series this month is José Pizarro, owner of renowned Spanish restaurants; José Tapas, Pizarro, José Pizarro at the Royal Academy and José Pizarro Broadgate, as well as the newly opened Lolo. Inspired by his Spanish heritage, José has created a Manchego, Jamón Ibérico and Tomato Jam Toastie which will be available at The Wigmore until 30 September.
Up next in the series will be Mexican chef Adriana Cavita, Chef Patron and owner of Cavita, who will be sharing a unique toastie creation throughout the month of October. Trailblazing restaurateur Asma Khan, chef and owner of Darjeeling Express, will round off the series with a takeover throughout November, just in time for Diwali.
Each guest chef toastie will be priced at £13.50, available for one month, and £1.00 from each toastie sold will be donated to the hospitality mental health charity, The Burnt Chef Project.
The Burnt Chef Project provides training to hospitality business owners, managers and employees to enhance their awareness of mental health. It develops supportive skills within management teams to open a conversation and support those who are experiencing mental ill health. Their services include a 24/7 support service for hospitality workers.
