The central part of South West London (SW1) comprises the posh parts of Belgravia, Chelsea and Knightsbridge. Among this postcode’s landmarks are the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus, the Houses of Parliament, the iconic chimes of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the pigeons-and-plinth filled Trafalgar Square, so it’s a great place for exploring on foot.
South West is the also a place for common people, as in people who like big, green spaces. The most famous is Clapham Common, with its bandstand, huge ponds, joggers and summer events.
Brixton is the best neighbourhood for nightlife, legendary venue Brixton Academy hosts big gigs and all-nighters, and the smaller Windmill has a roof dog so famous he even has his own t-shirt. Aside from bars and clubs, Brixton also has a big community feel, so head to the Village or Market for daylight exploration.
When the weather is good, go to Brockwell Lido for a refreshing dip, but get there early as it attracts a huge crowd.
