November is officially here, and whether you're on the countdown to Christmas or are in absolute denial that 2025 is just around the corner, there's plenty to do to keep you distracted. Spectacular firework displays, the Lord Mayor's Show, magical Christmas illuminations, candlelight concerts, romcom-ready Christmas markets - London has it all. And so do we. Bonfire Night Weekend | Nov 1st-3rd There are plenty of fabulous displays this year, and we have all your best options right here, so be sure to check it out for all things fireworks and laser light show related - with the occasional funfairs, inflatables and food stalls thrown in. The Lord Mayor's Show This is an ancient tradition filled with British pomp and grandeur, which has taken place every year since 1215. Created to celebrate the city's right to elect its own mayor as granted by King John, the new Lord Mayor must travel from London City to Westminster to swear his or her allegiance. Today, this means a huge 3-mile procession with flotillas, marching bands and performers galore, as well as the mayor in an ornate 250-year-old coach. Oxford Street Christmas Lights Part of their big Christmas shopping night, the switch-on will no doubt feature a big household name and there will be plenty of festive treats and temptations to be had. South Bank Winter Festival A whole range of events including a food-based Christmas market and plenty of entertainment, this is a seasonal staple. There's plenty for after-work drinks and entertainment as well as family fun, all with a creative seasonal twist. Ice Skating at Somerset House Get your skates on and roll up your sleeves — Skate at Somerset House is back for 2024 with a rink, pop-up Swiss food chalet, bar, vintage shop and curated DJ nights. There are chances to nab cheaper off-peak tickets, but be prepared to pay a little more for event nights like Skate Lates. Christmas at Kew Another increasingly popular illumination trail, the stunning grounds of Kew become a world of festive illuminations and delights. Following a 3km trail, visitors can see magical installations, light tunnels and a fire garden. There's a Victorian fairground and a whole range of food and drink offerings. London Gaming Market It's the last one of the year and the perfect place to pick up some cool merch or a retro console for the geek in your life. Christmas by the River Get your big coat on for one of the most picturesque markets in the city. This selection of festive stalls offers views of the Tower Bridge and The Tower of London while you shop. Warm up with mulled wine and spiced hot chocolate and wander amongst the stalls, browsing handmade gifts and foodie treats.
