BATSU! (meaning ‘punishment’ in Japanese) is the cult comedy show created in New York and Chicago, where comedians use their improv skills to avoid punishment by ingenious methods including electric shocks, paintballs, huge elastic bands, mousetraps and a giant chicken.
The new Underbelly Boulevard venue is a perfect location, as the audience is right up in the action. Interaction is essential, either by volunteering to get involved directly, voting for your favourites by cheering or just generally encouraging the comedians. It’s rowdy, loud and lots of fun.
Tickets are available on selected Friday evenings across a range of price bands dependent on seating, starting from a very reasonable £15.00. Band A tickets includes a hachimaki headband but you can upgrade and buy one either online or on the day for £8.00. It’s not just a cool souvenir; anyone wearing a headband gets two visits from the sake ninjas who leap around the venue with shot glasses and jugs of sake.
All together now . . . BATSU!
