Camden Inspire: Green Loop Takeover is a free, one-day festival taking place in Camden on Saturday 20th September that challenges our obsession with the “new”.
Taking place as part of the London Design Festival 2025, this new event will feature hands-on creative experiences from Camden organisations and artists such as The British Library, HvH Arts, London School of Mosaic and more TBC – urging attendees to Make.Do.Discuss and explore reuse, zero waste and imagine bold new ways of living with less.
Following on from the success of previous Camden Inspire festivals, this year’s celebration of local creativity will focus on the environmental ambitions of the area’s innovative neighbourhood strategy, Camden Green Loop.
The Green Loop Takeover will look at climate action through the lens of waste and reuse, championing local activists and makers. It represents an invitation for creative thinking, upcycling and reimagining, led by world-class designers; bringing our attention to the invaluable resources that are available to us every day, helping us all to see the treasure within the trash.
Taking place in an area already making bold moves to address local environmental issues, Camden Inspire: Green Loop Takeover is based in and around the Camden Collective, less than 5 mins from Camden Town tube station.
The local community and Londoners are invited to participate in a programme of creative activities that explore new approaches to living a life with less, led by some of Camden’s leading community, arts and designers. These include:
– An exhibition of reimagined and repaired furniture
– A series of making activities such as mosaics, poetry and upcycling
– Interactive activities such as gardening and fermenting
– ‘Impact workshop circle’ – roundtables on how to have an impact with boycotts, protest and lobbying
– A Pop-up cinema
– Panel discussions
– Walking tours and maps for the local area
UnBroken Exhibition and Auction
At the heart of the festival is a show-stopping exhibition of salvaged furniture, saved from landfill and transformed by celebrated designers into one-of-a-kind creations. The show will give new life to old materials donated by Camden based PropUp Project. Showcasing the power of design to inspire change, guests are invited to an exclusive auction and will have the chance to bid for the furniture, with all proceeds supporting local climate causes.
