Take a ride on an illuminated train line through the Essex countryside. Take some time to watch the illuminated train go by from the platform at North Weald (on the London-Essex border) first. Then hop aboard for a winter journey with a festive soundtrack and dazzling trackside illuminations, featuring illuminated reindeer and brightly lit stations. Some of the trains will be diesel and some steam enginges – you can check by looking at the timetable above the book tickets section, you’ll want to book ASAP if you want a ride on one of the steam train services.
You can book your own compartment (for up to 6 £120.00 or up to 8 £160.00, or just take an ordinary seat for £20.00
Depending on the day, services depart at either 17:20 or 18:20 and run for just over 2 hours – all trains depart from North Weald.
Alas Santa will not be appearing on these trains – apparently he and the elves, will be busy wrapping presents. However there are some special train times where you can catch a ride with Santa – see here for details.
