Sadler’s Wells Sampled

6:00pm – 9:30pm
£5.00 – £20.00

Sadler’s Wells is a modern contemporary dance and performance space and each year they open their doors for two nights of incredible performances. Designed as a sampler course for anyone interested in dance, the shows include a variety of styles, performers and disciplines and aim to show people what’s possible in dance. This year’s highlights include world champion tango dancers, circus arts and hip hop entries. You can also catch free shows from 6 pm, leading up to the main events.

Workshops at Sadler’s Wells Sampled

The event also boasts a wealth of workshops at incredible prices. For just £6.00 you can get up close and personal, learning with some of dancing’s most accomplished performers. From learning the lindy hop to hip-hop fundamentals, the workshops are suitable for beginners, though dancers of all stripes are bound to learn something.

Tickets are £20.00 but you can get standing ‘proms’ style tickets for £5.00. That’s a steal considering you’ll be seeing some of the country’s best performers doing what they do best. There’s a school matinee performance on the Friday (£6.00 or £3.00), but otherwise the ticketed event starts at 7.30pm and is expected to last around two hours, with a 25 minute interval. For online and over-the-phone bookings there are quite high transaction fees (£3.00). You can save on these by showing up in-person at the box office

Getting to Sadler’s Wells Sampled

By far your closest Tube station is Angel, which runs on the Northern Line. It also has the dubious honour of having the longest escalators of any underground station—be sure to enjoy the ride! While you’re in the area, be sure to check our guide to Cheap and Free Things to do in Islington.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, many events have been canceled. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
