The Sri Lankan Culture Collective has an unmissable one-day boutique festival showcasing the food and culture from across the vibrant Sri Lankan diaspora taking place on Sunday 22nd September from 12pm-10.30pm on Battersea Barge.
Join sari maverick and cultural programmer Mehala Ford of the Friday Sari Project, who will teach you how to drape a contemporary sari, and enjoy some inspirational ‘Fireside Chats’ – talks from founders, tastemakers, creatives and trailblazers from across the Sri Lankan creative community; full details to be announced.
Add a hopper-making masterclass with Rosh of Hop & Roll for £50.00 which includes not only the ingrdients, tuition and lunch, but a hopper pan to take home. You’ll eat your hoppers with curries by Krish and Joey, the co-founders of cult supper club Muvs All Day, and sambols by Ruci Foods.
You can also level up your visit with a ticket for an evening of comedy, street food and music for £30.00. See BBC’s new comedy award finalist, Hari Kanth, who will be joined by up-and-coming talent from the South Asian comedy community. Award-winning Colombo Kitchen will serve up kotthu roti, Sri Lanka’s undisputed ‘favourite dish’, from a live cooking station as DJs mix cutting-edge Tamil music with hip hop and afrobeats. Phenomenal contemporary Sri Lankan artists will showcase live music: Arjun Nala with folky acoustic soul, Tulip Wonder’s ethereal electronica and Nush’s multi-genre sounds.
Entrance to the event, the sari-draping workshop, pop-up shop and the culture talks is free, but please book a ticket here.
Venue: The Battersea Barge, Nine Elms Lane London SW11 8PZ
