Fashion and Textile Museum

The Fashion and Textile Museum was founded in 2003 by the designer Zandra Rhodes, who has designed outfits for Freddy Mercury, Princess Diana and Marc Bolan.

The bold, bright orange and pink Fashion and Textile Museum showcases temporary exhibitions by international designers and makers from exploring particular eras such as fashion in the 80s to ancient practices, identities and cultures.

Accessibility

The museum is wheelchair accessible, with step-free access to the ground and mezzanine levels where exhibitions are held. Low lighting is used to help protect exhibits, but magnifying glasses and large text captions are available on request. Some exhibitions include background music, if you’d rather visit at a quiet time it’s recommended to arrive around 3pm.

Cheap tickets

The museum offers discounted tickets to young adults, students, people on Universal or Pension Credit, disabled people, students and members of the Art Fund. Carers, under 12s and workers from other cultural institutions get free entry. Check the website for a full rundown of ticket prices.

There’s no cafe inside the museum, but you’re only three minutes’ walk from street food at Vinegar Yard, plus Bermondsey High Street has many great options including French Bistro Pique-Nique, Cafe Murano, and wallet-friendly Japanese food from Hakata.
