A visit to Camden can be quite an assault on the senses. Its colourful shop fronts, odd aromas, and booming sound systems can hit you in the face. But it’s always been a place that celebrates alternative culture, and rewards the determined bargain hunter. Camden has long history of live music and market culture. Catch great bands before they become massive at The Lock Tavern, or The Barfly. Weekends are pretty crowded, with people going elbow to elbow at Camden Market, or up the road at the more fancy Stables Market where there is a little more space, and great street eats to be found.
If it all gets too much on Camden High Street, Regent’s Canal is great for summertime lazing, and people watching.
